“HIVcheck.jp” HIV Self-Testing Kit Vending Machine Now Available

At our museum, we’ve installed “HIVcheck.jp,” a vending machine where you can easily get an HIV self-testing kit.
This is part of a project by NPO akta, which runs the sexual health information center “community center akta” for HIV/AIDS and other sexual health information.

How it works

The process is very simple:

1. Buy a kit on the website (https://hivcheck.jp/)
2. Enter the code sent by email at the machine installed at our museum
3. Take a finger-prick blood sample yourself
4. Drop it in a nearby mailbox
5. Receive your test results by email at a later date

About the project

This project aims to expand opportunities for HIV testing and to help bring an end to the ongoing HIV public health crisis.
It also helps address challenges of traditional mail-in testing, such as difficulties receiving kits at home and time delays between purchase and delivery.

Through this initiative, our museum supports easier access to HIV testing and greater awareness of HIV and AIDS.
