The Nakamura Keith Haring Collection took part in Tokyo Pride 2026, held on June 6β7.
π Tokyo Pride is one of Japanβs largest LGBTQ+ events. First held in 1994, this yearβs event was celebrated under the theme βA Future Opened by Diversity and Equality.β π
In addition to exhibiting at a shared booth, the museum joined the Pride Parade as part of the β#UpdateHIVβ float organized by PLACE TOKYO and akta. β¨
An image of two embracing figures by Keith Haring was adopted as the symbol of β#UpdateHIV,β and T-shirts featuring this image were created for the occasion. β£οΈ Approximately 500 people joined the float, with many participants wearing the T-shirts as they marched through the streets of Shibuya and Harajuku under the βWE ARE POSITIVEβ flag, promoting the importance of updating knowledge and understanding about HIV. β¨
We were grateful for the opportunity to connect with so many people throughout the event, making it two wonderful days filled with smiles, energy, and inspiration.
